Puan Badriyah Hj. Abd Malek graduated in 1984 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia with Bachelor of Science (Hons). She joined the Administrative and Diplomatic Service in 1988 and was attached to the Treasury for her first posting where she served for more than 5 years before furthering her studies in 1993. Upon returning she was posted to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation formerly known as Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment. In 2000 she was transferred to the Public Service Department and joined the Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications in 2004. She was posted to the Water Services Division and was involved in the Restructuring of Water Service Industry in Malaysia, a major exercise undertaken by MEWC beginning June 2004. In May 2007, Puan Badriyah was posted as the Undersecretary of Sustainable Energy of Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water. From the Ministry, Puan Badriyah was instrumental in facilitating the preparation of both the Renewable Energy and Sustainable Energy Development Authority Bills which were later passed in Parliament at the end of April 2011.
Ir. Ali Askar Sher Mohamad graduated with a BSc (Electrical Engineering) from Purdue University, West Lafayette, and a Masters in Power Engineering from UNSW, Sydney. He has served TNB in various capacities, including Planning Engineer, Project Manager, District Manager and even HRD Manager. He taught Alternative Energy for Power Generation at Uniten for the past 2 years, where he also started his PhD research in grid connection of large scale solar PV plants. He acted as a Technical Advisor to the MBIPV team and later Interim SEDA team since the beginning of this year before he joined SEDA full-time in August.
Ms. Wei-nee Chen holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand (1985) and a Master of Business Administration from Universiti Tun Abdul Razak, Malaysia (2005). Prior to returning to Malaysia, Ms. Wei-nee was in New Zealand for 14 years. She has more than 10 years of working experience in the banking, insurance, freezing and health industries in various cities in New Zealand. Since coming back to Malaysia, Wei-nee was in the logistic industry and later, in the managed ICT services industry. From 2005-2010, Wei-nee served in the capacity of a Technical Advisor in the Malaysia Building Integrated Photovoltaic Project; a project administered by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water Malaysia with support from Global Environment Facility through United Nations Development Program. From January 2011 to September 2011, Wei-nee was a member of interim SEDA Malaysia. She is also the Malaysian representative for Task 1 of the International Energy Agency Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme (IEA PVPS).
Azah Ahmad obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Ohio State University, USA 1998 and Master of Science in Energy Technology from UKM in 2004. She has extensive years of working experience in energy efficiency and renewable energy. She was the focal point representing Malaysia for the ASEAN Energy Efficiency & Sub-sector Network from 2003 to 2005 and a Technical Committee member on Performance of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances, SIRIM during her tenure with Pusat Tenaga Malaysia. In 2005, she joined the Malaysia Building Integrated Photovoltaic (MBIPV) Project, a project funded by the Government of Malaysia and UNDP/ GEF. She is a certified ISPQ PV installer by the International for Sustainable Power (ISP). Her main role was to manage BIPV systems installations within the MBIPV project including designing, checking system design by the service provider, supervising up to commissioning. From January to September 2011, she was part of the Interim SEDA team.
Mr. CF Leong holds a BSc. (Hons) degree in Computer Science from University of Science (1985) and received his Project Management Professional (PMP@) credential from Project Management Institute in 2010. He started his career as a systems analyst in the Public Works Department before leaving for Japan in 1992 for a 2-years Mombusho Post-graduate Research Studies (NMS & Adv. Networking Technology) at The University of Tokyo. Prior to SEDA Malaysia, Mr. Leong was involved in the development of the 2400MW hydropower plants in Bakun, Sarawak from its early day until 2 of its turbine units started commercial operation in late 2011. Mr. Leong has over 20 years of extensive ICT and project management experiences in the engineering and utility industries. In the development of KL International Airport and Bakun Hydroelectric projects, he has played a major role in establishing, planning, setting up and directing ICT infrastructures, VSAT telecommunication and computer systems that have supported the National visions and goals.
